This was a lovely beach hike. Hike short trails to the ocean and bay sides of a barrier island, and along an undeveloped beach with views of Barnegat Lighthouse. Quite a few people fishing throughout, but not too many cars to avoid. You can tour the island on a 1.4-mile loop trail. The park is one of New Jersey's last significant remnants of a barrier island ecosystem that once existed along much of the coast and is also one of the few remaining undeveloped barrier beaches on the north Atlantic coast.
